About

Survival 2013 is written for those who are concerned about the possibility of cataclysmic changes in the near-termcabezafortwitter future. The potential scenarios are legion, from the Mayan prophecy of the end of days to the Biblical prophecy of Armageddon, from the secular view of global warming to the libertarian fear of economic meltdown, to dozens of other.

Many such scenarios don’t see the world totally destroyed. If that were the case, there would be no need for physical preparation, only spiritual. With less-than-total destruction, however, it will be necessary for those who choose to allow their families to survive to be prepared.

Preparedness means many things, and this site aims to generate a dialog with others around the world who will approach these times thoughtfully, understanding the needs of this brave new world and understanding their own capabilities and weaknesses. It will encourage education and cooperation, focus and sacrifice.

I have taken on for this blog the persona of Álvar Núñez Cabeza de Vaca, one of the New World’s true great survivalists.  When he set out aboard ship in 1528 on an exploring expedition of what we now know as the Gulf Coast, he understood the possibility of hardship, but as one of only 4 out of 300 who came through a shipwreck, he would spend almost a decade surviving under conditions almost unbelievable, writing a “Relacion” that would be read skeptically even as fiction if it were not known to be true.

Truely this Spaniard is an inspiration to all modern survivalists, who would do well to know his story and then to try to be prepared for the unfathomable events that may lie ahead.

Read our blog, contribute your own comments, but most important — to yourselves and your families — go out and do what you determine you must do to survive.

Have a profitable journey, my friends.
